The Senior Year Experience (SYE) at Williams College
The Senior Year Experience (SYE) is a unique set of events, activities, and opportunities designed to enhance the experiences of seniors in their final year at Williams College. Your last year of college should be a time and opportunity for:
§ Celebration – After working diligently for the past years, and as you focus on the journey ahead after graduation, whether graduate study or career, you should take some time to celebrate this accomplishment. Other experiences can include celebrating each other by attending thesis presentations of your peers (including art shows at the Williams College Museum of Art) and going to games where senior athletes are recognized.
§ Exploration and Reflection – You should reflect on your journey through college, the meaning of a liberal arts education, and how your college experiences will help to shape your path ahead after college. This is also a time to explore interesting activities such as new hobbies and adventures, extra-curricular projects, communities around campus, as well as to investigate postgraduate fellowships.
§ Preparation – As you formulate plans for the next journey ahead including your career passions, you should ensure that you are utilizing those resources in the ‘68 Center and attending programming such as the Skills for Post-Graduate Success workshops for seniors. Even if you have a job before your final year, you can still build career skills through leadership opportunities on campus and career readiness courses during Winter Study.
Let your final year at Williams be a memorable one! Celebrate, explore, and prepare well!
